All components of a helmet are subject to ageing, depending on handling, maintenance, and degree of wear, which depends on the intensity and the specific conditions of use. The best way to store a helmet is therefore away from sunlight and hear sources in a cool, dry spot. Ideally, they should be stored in their box, but also the cloth bag will do. Cracks, loose or detached parts, warping, flaking and changes in colour are significant elements for verifying the helmet’s state of deterioration. Under optimum storage conditions (cool, dry, protected from daylight, no contact with chemicals, no mechanical crushing, pressure or stress) and without use, the maximum lifetime is 8 years following the indicated date of production. This should not be exceeded in use, even if the product is in a visually good condition. For reasons of safety, we recommend our helmets are replaced 5 years after initial use, depending on the intensity of use.
A ski helmet’s protective function is diminished after a fall or collision, as the impact forces on your head during a fall are absorbed by the helmet. In case of another impact in the same location, the ski helmet might no longer fulfil its protective function. Please note that – depending on the force and angle of impact – the helmet shell and/or other components can even break and should do so in order to deflect the impact forces away from your head. After any violent impact, even if no damage is visible, the helmet should be replaced because its capacity to absorb further impact could be impaired. Replacement is also needed if the helmet no longer fits correctly or damages are clearly visible.
CP visor helmets are guaranteed against material and/or manufacturing defects for two years from the date of purchase. This guarantee does not cover the normal wear and tear, nor the damages caused by incorrect use or incorrect care of the product and the parts thereof. For issues concerning products that are covered by the guarantee, please contact the dealer you have bought your helmet and/or visor from and make sure to have the proof of purchase with you. Should the direct contact with the dealer not be possible, please write us an email to customerservice[at]cp-fashionatsports.com with your contact details, description of the problem, pictures and proof of purchase. Your claim will then be directly processed by us.
Please note that the following recommendations are to be considered as functional tips and cannot replace personal advice from the responsible person of a sporting goods store. Measure your head correctly: the starting point for selecting the right size is measuring the circumference of your head, a finger width above the eyebrows. In many stores, dealers will have head-measuring tapes available. The head size range is given in cm on the sticker on the back of the helmet and on the label inside it. You can refer to the size table further below for guidance. Fitting: try on several helmets if possible; you will immediately notice a difference in the fit. Make sure that the helmet sits comfortably and firmly around your head. It needs to be snug but not too tight. Also, don’t forget to take a look in the mirror: you want to look good wearing your helmet! Positioning: make sure that the helmet is positioned levelly on your head. The helmet should not sit too far back on your head, which leaves the forehead unprotected, nor be pulled too far down over the forehead, where it can affect your vision. The visor has to rest comfortably on the nose in its lower position and the foam lip should seal the gap to your face nicely. Adjusting the size: by rotating the size-adapting ring at the back of the helmet you can easily adjust the size of your helmet. To do so, place the helmet in the proper position and turn the dial at the back of the helmet: clockwise to make the helmet tighter, counter clockwise to make it looser. Firm fit: you can test if your helmet sits firmly by shaking your head lightly with the chinstrap open. The position of the helmet should not change! An optimum fit is required for the helmet to fulfil its safety function 100%. Adjusting the strap system: the lengths of the strap ends may vary due to the straps being adjusted individually. Tuck any excess straps inside the chin pad. Ensure that you can breathe and swallow easily.

VISOR: The best method is to clean the visor with mild soapy water and let it air-dry; if necessary you can gently dab it with a microfiber cloth. Petroleum-based, solvents, corrosive or acidic care products should generally be avoided, as they can attack the materials and damage the coating. The inside of the visor – both single and double lens - is treated with anti-fog coating, which is quite scratch-sensitive. You should therefore treat it with extreme care and avoid wiping it off. If snow or water gets onto the inside of the visor you should shake it off and let it air-dry.
INNER LINING: if the lining of the helmet can be removed, it can be washed by hand or in your household washing machine (max temperature 30°C/86°F and low rpm on spin dryer). For cashmere lining please use the appropriate program on your washing machine.
EAR PADS: ear pads can be removed and washed according to the same instructions used for the inner lining
